About Auto Lab of Canton South in Canton, MI

Auto-lab of Canton South began business on July 1, 2008. Joe Alli, the owner was new to the auto repair business. It was his second career. His vision was to create a business where he would feel comfortable if his wife or daughters brought their vehicles for service. He wanted a friendly environment where people enjoyed doing business, and where employees enjoyed working. Quality repairs at a fair and consistent price would be the rule.

Today Joe spends lots of time at the shop and enjoys dealing with customers.

Meet the Team:

Joe Carroll, General Manager: Joe Carroll is a former shop owner who excels at both the technical and people ends of the business. He has over 29 years experience in this business and is an ASE Master Certified technician and an ASE Advanced Engine Performance Specialist. Customers enjoy the trusting relationship Joe builds with each one of them when he is working as the service writer. When in the back Joe advises younger, less experienced technicians as well as repairing vehicles. Joe considers his specialties to be driveability and electrical issues, major and minor engine repair, heating and air conditioning. Joe is a graduate of the GM Automotive Service Education Program (ASEP). He has worked at the shop since it opened July 1, 2008.

Don Chanter, Technician: Don is one our most experienced technicians with over 26 years experience. He is certified by the State of Michigan in 7 different areas. These include his specialties of Engine repair, Automatic Transmissions, Manual Transmissions and axles, as well as Front end and steering, Brakes, Engine tune-up/performance and pre-1973 vehicles. Don has worked at the shop since it opened.

Charles Dick, Technician: Charles is the newest addition to our technician staff, starting in March, 2011. Charles is an ASE Certified Master technician with over 16 years experience. He considers his specialties to include Minor engine repair, Brakes, Suspension, and other under car issues including exhaust.

John Kovacs, Technician: John started at the shop as a part time lubrication tech in March, 2009. Shortly thereafter John became full time, obtained his State of Michigan training permit and began learning under the guidance of our more experienced technicians. Currently John is acquiring certifications in several areas and is planning to get involved in the GM Automotive Service Education Program (ASEP). John also works the front counter on occasion.
